The Spirit Tapestry Project, a community-based project, comprises eight to ten large tapestries made from intimate apparel using the folk-art tradition of rag-rug making and crocheting.
I use folk-art traditions and techniques as visual stand-ins for culturally specific communities. Folk-art traditions and techniques are historically more widespread and universal than fine-art traditions which only represent a small fraction of the world's population, while folk-art traditions represent more than nine-tenths of the global population of the planet.
